THE FIRST MD VISIT

The first Physician House Call visit consists of a thorough medical history and physical examination. It’s important that the doctor learns about your medical background and listens to all of your current medical questions and needs. Be prepared to meet with the doctor for at least an hour.

Here are some tips to make your first visit go as smoothly as possible:

  • If possible, bring a family member or spouse to help you have a comprehensive medical history.
  • Make sure you have your insurance card.
  • Bring your hospital discharge papers with you to show the doctor.
  • Make sure you have all of your prescription bottles, as well as any over-the-counter supplements or vitamins, on hand to present the doctor.
  • If you’re seeing a doctor (e.g., a cardiologist or a neurologist), make sure you have their phone numbers.
  • Have your former family doctor’s name and phone number.
  • Please make a copy of your living will or advanced directive for the physician.
  • Prepare for a rigorous exam by dressing comfortably and loosely.
  • Prepare any questions or concerns to present to the doctor.
  • Relax! We are excited to take care of you!
