The DMV Medical Concierge Team: Tracking Primary Care Visits for 8 Years
The DMV Medical Concierge team has been tracking primary care visits for the past 8 years. We have found that the number of primary care visits has decreased from 336 million to 299 million during this time period. However, the number of visits per person has remained relatively stable.
The reasons for the decrease in primary care visits are likely multifactorial. One possibility is that people are using other types of care, such as urgent care or retail clinics, for their primary care needs. Another possibility is that people are using technology, such as telemedicine, to access care.
Despite the decrease in primary care visits, the number of visits per person has remained relatively stable. This suggests that people are still using primary care, but they are using it less often. This may be due to changes in insurance coverage, such as the rise of high-deductible plans, or to changes in the way care is delivered, such as the use of more nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
What does this mean for the future of primary care? It is difficult to say. The decrease in primary care visits may be a sign that people are using other types of care, such as urgent care or retail clinics, for their primary care needs. Or, it may be a sign that people are using technology, such as telemedicine, to access care.
Only time will tell. But one thing is clear: the DMV Medical Concierge team will continue to track primary care visits so that we can provide the best possible care to our patients.
